Prilox Cream

Common use

Prilox Cream is used to manage and alleviate pain associated with various procedures such as grafts on skin or minor surgeries. This medicine is a combination product and forms part of the local anesthetics grouping of medicines. In addition to its primary use, this cream is also employed for its numbing effect during procedures that would otherwise be uncomfortable, like needle insertion, surgical interventions on the skin, or some dental procedures. It works by temporarily numbing the area where it's applied, making these procedures more comfortable.

Dosage and direction

Ensure that the skin area where the cream is to be applied is clean and dry. Apply a thin layer of the cream on the affected area using your fingertip or a clean cotton swab. Gently rub it in until fully absorbed into the skin. Avoid applying on open wounds, inflamed skin and near eyes without doctor's advice. Wash your hands properly after applying the cream unless your hands are the area being treated.

Precautions

Liver Disease: Patients with liver disease should exercise caution as Prilox Cream's metabolism is primarily in the liver, and its effects could be exaggerated in these individuals.
Heart Disease: People suffering from heart disease need to be cautious when using Prilox Cream, as it may affect heart rhythms.

Contraindications

Prilox Cream interacts with the following medicines: Antiarrhythmic medications: Medicines like amiodarone or quinidine may interact with Prilox Cream, potentially increasing the risk of heart rhythm disorders; Beta-blockers: When applied concurrently, beta-blockers like atenolol and metoprolol could potentially reduce the effect of Prilox Cream.

Missed dose

In case you forget to apply Prilox Cream as directed, do so as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next application, skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

If you accidentally apply more Prilox Cream than recommended, do not panic. Rinse the area with clean, room temperature water. If any symptoms continue or get worse, inform your doctor right away.

Storage

Store Prilox Cream at a temperature, ideally below 30 degrees Celsius. Protect it from direct sunlight and keep it in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze. Ensure you keep it away from children to prevent accidental ingestion.
